Things to do in Bomdila

With Snow clad Himalayan mountain ranges and greenery everywhere to flaunt its natural beauty, Bomdila is one of the holidaymaker destinations in Arunachal Pradesh in North East India. It is situated at an altitude of around 8,500 ft above sea level.

1.     Visit Lower Gompa

Lower Gompa is located in the heart of the town and is of the division of Gontse Gaden Rabgyel Lling Monastery. This place is where Buddhist monks come to worship. You will find prayer wheels you can spin to grant wishes. 

2.     Visit Middle Gompa

Middle Gompa is one of the oldest gompas which is located 2km from the main market. The Place is famous amongst healers with the name Blue Medicine Buddha. It is an ideal place for Healers. 

3.     Visit Upper Gompa

The Upper Gompa is most majestic of the three Gompas and also offers travelers a panoramic view of the town below with the snow-capped mountains. You will also find a school here to educate monk kids, a temple of Buddha, and a prayer hall decorated with wall hangings. 

4.     Stroll around Apple Orchards

Bomdila is famous for apple orchards. Laden with apples, the huge trees in orchards are a great attraction. If you visit in winter it would be a feast to your eyes as apple orchards will be at their optimum best in production. Also the temptation to buy apples for unbelievably low prices is too hard to resist.

5.     Go for Paragliding

Bomdila is the perfect place for paragliding as the hill station is located in the lap of Himalayan Mountain Range. The place is flourishing with snow capped mountains and the beauty of lush greenery everywhere. It is one of the adventurous things to do in Bomdila. 

6.     Indulge in River Rafting

Bomdila is surrounded by beautiful mighty rivers – Kameng River, Subansari, The Brahmaputra, Lohit, and Siang Rivers. In summer and dry seasons like spring, winter, and autumn, the water level stays normal and the flowing currents are perfected for river rafting. One should not miss this experience. 

7.     Go Birdwatching at Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary

Eaglenest wildlife sanctuary is home to enormous diversity of bird species (covering over 450 varieties) detected here. Oriental White Ibis, Quails, Cormorants, Hawks, Herons, Woodpeckers, Vultures, Tragopan, Parrots, Black Stork, Falcons, Pigeons, Eagles, Cuckoos, Kites, Ducks and Pheasants are some of them. This sanctuary also is a part of the bigger elephant reserve as well as serves as a home to plenty of reptiles, and amphibian species. Birdwatching is one of the best things to do in Bomdila. 

8.     Try the Exotic Dishes

Arunachal Pradesh’s taste differs across the tribal groups and regions. The different cooking styles and ingredients make the food delicious and tasty.
